PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF TIMES
I encourage parents to try to arrange pick-ups and drop-offs for before 9:00 am and after 3:00 pm to avoid disrupting group activities or nap times. Allowing the children to attend for the full day gives them the greatest benefit from the day’s programming and keeps their routines consistent.
OUTDOOR PLAY & FIELD TRIPS
We go for a walk around the block, neighbourhood or to a nearby park and/or play in the back yard every day. Only extreme weather conditions will limit outdoor time. I ask parents to provide an extra set of clothing because the children often get wet or dirty when playing outside.
INCLUSION POLICY
Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Cheryl’s Child Care and participate in all activities and routines. When it is necessary additional supports, special arrangements or adaptations are made to facilitate participation.
Additional training and ongoing consultations with parents and other professionals ensure that experiences are developmentally appropriate for each individual child.
PARENT/PROVIDER COMMUNICATION
An evening meeting between the parent(s) and myself may be arranged to clarify or review the policies, update information, discuss the growth and development of the child, and address any problems that may have arisen.
Information about the children and their day will be exchanged with the parent at pick up time, or via text, email or phone during the day or evening. I also keep a written journal for each preschool child to document their moods, eating habits, and any incidents from the day.
Parents will be informed ahead of time (if possible) if an alternate caregiver (substitute) will be caring for the children. The blackboard at the front entrance is used for notices regarding special events, closure dates, changes to the posted menu, and any other messages for ALL parents.
PRIVACY
All personal information collected is for childcare use only. No information will be disclosed to a third party unless prior written permission is obtained. Stories, programming ideas, and evaluations of our activities may be posted on my website, blog, or used in presentations but will not contain any information that identifies the children or their families.
